NORSE TRAVEL TO SJC, IPFW THIS WEEKEND

NKU ranked No. 5 in Great Lakes Region poll

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team will hit the road for a pair of matches this weekend, beginning with an 8 p.m. contest at Saint Joseph’s College on Friday.

NKU will also play a non-Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne at 3 p.m. Saturday. IPFW, a former GLVC member, now participates in the NCAA Division I ranks.

NKU improved to 9-4 last Saturday with a 26-30, 30-23, 30-25, 30-20 win at Quincy University. Luisa Gomez had nine kills, 12 digs and a .429 hitting percentage to lead the Norse.

Cammi Welter added 12 kills as NKU improved to 4-0 in the GLVC. The Norse, who extended their winning streak to five with the victory, are ranked No. 22 nationally in the latest NCAA Division II poll.

NKU is also ranked No. 5 in the Great Lakes Region poll. Grand Valley State is ranked No. 1 in the poll, followed by the University of Findlay, Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech University.

NKU senior outside hitter Bethany Gastright now has 1,334 career kills to rank No. 5 in Norse history. Jenny Fleissner is No. 4 in NKU history with 1,383 career kills.
