NKU DEFEATS UM-ST. LOUIS, 3-0

Welter gets 18 kills as Norse improve to 3-0 in the GLVC

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Cammi Welter recorded 18 kills Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 30-26, 30-19, 30-18.

Denise Barhorst added 10 kills and a .667 hitting percentage as NKU improved to 8-4 overall, 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Kate O’Toole had 24 assists and nine digs for the Norse, who are ranked No. 24 nationally in the latest NCAA Division II poll.

Julie Hathorn picked up nine kills and had a .529 hitting percentage for NKU, which is now 12-0 all-time against Missouri-St. Louis. Bethany Gastright added 10 kills and 14 digs for NKU.

The Norse, who are seeking their fifth consecutive GLVC championship, will conclude their road trip Saturday with a 3 p.m. match at Quincy (Ill.) University.
