NKU OPENS GLVC PLAY WITH A WIN |

Norse defeat Saint Josephs, 3-0 |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Bethany Gastright recorded 16 kills and a .400 hitting percentage Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Saint Josephs College, 30-19, 30-27, 30-16, in Regents Hall. Cammi Welter added 10 kills and eight service aces as NKU opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a victory. Welter also served 14 consecutive points during the first game. Kate OToole had 18 assists for NKU, and Sara Taylor added 15 assists. Julie Hathorn picked up seven kills and a finished with a .357 hitting percentage. The Norse improved to 6-4 overall, 1-0 in the GLVC. Saint Josephs is 3-6 overall, 0-2 in the GLVC. NKU will play host to the University of Indianapolis at 7 p.m. Wednesday night in Regents Hall. |
