NKU POSTS BIG WIN OVER LEWIS

Norse win ninth straight match in battle for first place

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Bethany Gastright had 22 kills, 18 digs and a .383 hitting percentage Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Lewis University, 30-27, 30-32, 30-25, 30-28, in Regents Hall.

Denise Barhorst and Cammi Welter both added 16 kills as NKU (13-4) won its ninth consecutive match and gained sole possession of first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Blue Division standings with a 6-0 record. Lewis (10-6, 5-1 GLVC) entered the match tied with NKU for first place with a 5-0 record.

Julie Hathorn picked up 15 kills and a .344 hitting percentage for NKU, which is ranked No. 21 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll.

NKU will play host to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (1 p.m.) and Edinboro (Pa.) University (5 p.m.) on Saturday.
