EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Jessica Buroker had 21 kills, 12 digs and a .679 hitting percentage Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated the University of Southern Indiana, 15-11, 15-7, 15-3. Julie Hathorn added 11 kills, four service aces and a .550 hitting percentage for NKU, which improved to 21-5 overall, 11-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse are now tied in the loss column with Southern Indiana (22-3, 12-2 GLVC). The Lady Eagles - who had not lost at home this season until Saturday - could have clinched the No. 1 seed and homecourt advantage in the GLVC Tournament with a win on Saturday, but NKU is now in control of the GLVC. If NKU wins its final three matches, the Norse will be the No. 1 seed in the GLVC Tournament due to the head-to-head tiebreaker against Southern Indiana. NKU will host the University of Indianapolis on Tuesday, and finish its regular-season next weekend with road matches at Saint Josephs College and Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne. NKU is ranked No. 19 nationally in the latest Division II poll. |
