Norse defeat Lewis for 18th consecutive win |

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Bethany Gastright recorded 20 kills Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Lewis University, 30-28, 30-26, 30-25. Julie Hathorn added nine kills and a .533 hitting percentage as NKU clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. The Norse - winners of 18 consecutive matches - are now 22-4 overall, 12-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. NKU will play host to the GLVC Tournament Nov. 8-10 in Regents Hall. The Norse will play at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the first round against the No. 8 seed (either Saint Josephs College or the University of Wisconsin-Parkside). Gastright now has 1,587 career kills, which ranks No. 3 in NKU history. Jenny Jeremiah is NKUs all-time career leader with 1,613 kills. NKU is ranked No. 17 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, and No. 4 in the Great Lakes Region poll. |
