NKU DEFEATS SIUE

Norse travel to USI on Saturday

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Bethany Gastright had 23 kills and a .500 hitting percentage Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, 15-7, 15-7, 15-12.

Gastright also had three service aces for NKU, which improved to 20-5 overall, 10-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Jessica Buroker and Julie Hathorn added nine kills apiece as the Norse clinched their eighth consecutive 20-win season on Friday.

Bobbi Casey had 44 assists for NKU, which will meet GLVC leader University of Southern Indiana at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Norse can take command of the GLVC race with a win on Saturday against USI.

NKU is ranked No. 19 nationally in the latest Division II poll.
