Gastright gets 24 kills as Norse improve to 20-4

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Bethany Gastright had 24 kills and a .706 hitting percentage Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Kentucky Wesleyan College, 30-13, 30-16, 30-9.

Gastright now has 1,554 career kills, which ranks No. 4 in NKU history. Jenny Jeremiah is NKU’s all-time career leader with 1,613 kills.

Cammi Welter added 14 kills and a .600 hitting percentage as NKU improved to 20-4 overall, 10-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Kate O’Toole recorded 26 assists for NKU, which extended its win streak to 16.

The longest single-season win streak in Norse volleyball history is 27, set in 1995 when NKU won its final 27 matches of the season.

The Norse are ranked No. 18 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. NKU holds a two-game lead in the GLVC standings, and the Norse can wrap up the No. 1 seed and homecourt advantage with two wins next weekend.
