NKU TO HOST THOMAS MORE ON TUESDAY

Norse also face GLVC showdown with Lewis on Friday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team, now 11-4 overall, will play host to Thomas More College at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in Regents Hall.

NKU enters Tuesday’s contest against the Saints having won seven consecutive matches. The Norse won road matches at Saint Joseph’s College and Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne this weekend.

NKU senior outside hitter Bethany Gastright now has 1,379 career kills to rank No. 5 in Norse history. Gastright needs just five kills Tuesday to pass Jenny Fleissner, who is No. 4 in NKU history with 1,383 career kills.

Gastright was also named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week on Monday. She amassed 45 kills (6.43 per game) and a .390 hitting percentage in the road wins over Saint Joseph’s and IPFW. In seven games played, Gastright also had four service aces, 35 digs (5.00 per game) and four blocks.

NKU will also play host to Lewis University at 7 p.m. this Friday night in Regents Hall. Lewis is tied with NKU for first place in the GLVC standings with a 5-0 record.

The Flyers swept both regular-season matches last season with NKU, but the Norse bounced back to post a victory over Lewis in the GLVC Tournament.

NKU will also play host to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (1 p.m.) and Edinboro (Pa.) University (5 p.m.) on Saturday.
