HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team will play a pair of road matches this weekend, beginning with a 7 p.m. contest at Bellarmine University on Friday. NKU, now 18-4 and winners of 14 consecutive matches, will also visit Owensboro, Ky., on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match against Kentucky Wesleyan College. The Norse are 8-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. NKU is ranked No. 18 nationally in the latest NCAA Division II poll. The Norse are tied for fourth place in the NCAA II Great Lakes Region poll. Bethany Gastright had 10 kills last Friday night and became just the fourth player in NKU volleyball history to reach 1,500 career kills as the Norse defeated Georgetown (Ky.) College, 30-27, 30-17, 30-17, in Regents Hall. Gastright, a senior outside hitter from Holy Cross High School, now has 1,506 career kills and ranks No. 4 in NKU history. Jenny Jeremiah is NKUs all-time career leader with 1,613 kills. Denise Barhorst added 10 kills and a .625 hitting percentage for NKU. Julie Hathorn had 12 kills and five blocks, and Sara Taylor recorded 42 assists. |
