Norse to meet GLVC-leading Flyers on Saturday |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team will play a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference road matches this weekend, beginning with an 8 p.m. Friday contest at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. NKU (11-7 overall, 5-2 in the GLVC) will also travel to Romeoville, Ill., at 3 p.m. Saturday to meet GLVC leader Lewis University (17-1 overall, 6-1 GLVC). Lewis defeated NKU in Regents Hall last month, but the Norse have won eight of the last nine matches on the Flyers home floor. A year ago, NKU posted a 3-0 win at Lewis. The Norse lead the all-time series with Lewis, 20-11. The Norse own a 14-0 lead in the all-time series with Wisconsin-Parkside, and NKU defeated the Rangers in four games on Sept. 21 in Regents Hall. Kristin Koralewski converted 14 of 17 attack attempts and finished with a .765 hitting percentage Saturday as NKU defeated Fairmont State College, 30-23, 30-25, 30-14, at the WVIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament in Regents Hall. Koralewski, a sophomore outside hitter, also collected five service aces as NKU won its fourth consecutive match. Sophomore middle hitter Maggie Pugh had 14 kills for the Norse, while junior setter Sara Taylor - who leads the GLVC in assists with 13.59 apg - finished with 48 assists. Cammi Welter, Nicole Salisbury and Kaliana Kalache each recorded 10 kills as the Norse defeated West Virginia Wesleyan College, 30-16, 30-16, 30-12, in the first match Saturday. Pugh led NKU with a .636 hitting percentage. The Norse finished with 11 service aces and a .481 hitting percentage against West Virginia Wesleyan. |
