HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Junior outside hitter Bethany Gastright had nine kills and a .529 hitting percentage Wednesday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated the University of Charleston (W. Va.), 15-7, 15-3, 15-8, in Regents Hall. Senior middle hitter Jessica Buroker added eight kills and 17 digs as NKU improved to 15-4 overall. The Norse have now won 44 consecutive matches at home. The last team to beat NKU in Regents Hall was the University of New Haven, which knocked off the Norse in four games on Nov. 9, 1997. The NCAA Division II all-time record for consecutive homecourt victories is 109, set by New Haven from 1992-97. Senior setter Bobbi Casey recorded 39 service aces, six kills and two service aces, and junior middle hitter Julie Hathorn added eight kills and a .300 hitting percentage. Charleston dropped to 19-9 with the defeat. NKU will play host to Edinboro (Pa.) University at 7 p.m. this Friday night in Regents Hall. |
