NKU TO HOST GLVC TOURNAMENT

Norse open Thursday night against UW-Parkside

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team will play host to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Nov. 8-10 in Regents Hall, and the top-seeded Norse will face No. 8 seed University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 7:30 p.m. in the first round this Thursday.

NKU enters the GLVC Tournament with 20 consecutive victories and a 24-4 record. The Norse posted an unbeaten record (14-0) in the GLVC to earn the No. 1 seed. NKU owns four consecutive GLVC Tournament championships, and the Norse have won five of the past six GLVC titles.

NKU is ranked No. 14 nationally in the latest NCAA Division II poll.

Senior outside Bethany Gastright had 18 kills last Saturday afternoon and became NKU’s all-time career leader in kills as the Norse defeated Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, 30-26, 30-27, 30-28, in Regents Hall.

Gastright is now NKU’s all-time career leader in kills with 1,620. Prior to last Saturday, Jenny Jeremiah’s total of 1,613 career kills was No. 1 in school history.
