NKU WINS 20TH CONSECUTIVE MATCH

Gastright becomes NKU’s all-time kills leader

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Bethany Gastright had 18 kills Saturday afternoon and became Northern Kentucky University’s all-time career leader in kills as the Norse volleyball team defeated Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, 30-26, 30-27, 30-28, in Regents Hall.

Gastright is now NKU’s all-time career leader in kills with 1,620. Prior to Saturday, Jenny Jeremiah’s total of 1,613 career kills was No. 1 in school history. Cammi Welter added 12 kills as NKU - winners of 20 consecutive matches - improved to 24-4 overall, 14-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Julie Hathorn had 10 kills, and Denise Barhorst added seven kills and a .545 hitting percentage.

NKU will play host to the GLVC Tournament Nov. 8-10 in Regents Hall. The Norse will play at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the first round against No. 8 seed University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

NKU is ranked No. 15 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, and No. 4 in the Great Lakes Region poll.
