SAINT JOSEPHS UPSETS NKU |

Pumas rally to defeat NKU |
|
RENSSELAER, Ind. - Jill Ryan had 20 kills and 20 digs Friday night as the Saint Josephs College volleyball team rallied to upset 18th-ranked Northern Kentucky University, 9-15, 6-15, 15-13, 15-9, 15-10. Bethany Gastright led NKU (22-6 overall, 12-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference) with 30 kills, and Jessica Buroker added 18 kills and 27 digs. Julie Hathorn had 19 kills and 19 digs for the Norse. Saint Josephs improved to 11-18 overall, 2-13 in the GLVC. NKUs loss, coupled with Southern Indianas victory at Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, puts the Norse in a must-win situation at Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne on Saturday. NKU trails Southern Indiana by one game in the GLVC standings and needs a victory against IPFW to have any hope of earning the GLVCs No. 1 seed and right to host the GLVC Tournament. Southern Indiana is now 24-3 overall, 13-2 in the GLVC. If NKU defeats IPFW on Saturday, and if Southern Indiana loses at Quincy, the Norse will be the No. 1 seed due to the head-to-head tiebreaker. |
