Norse defeat Southern Indiana to improve to 23-4 |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Cammi Welter had 16 kills, 16 digs and a .538 hitting percentage Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated the University of Southern Indiana, 30-16, 30-25, 30-25, in Regents Hall. Bethany Gastright added 15 kills as NKU - winners of 19 consecutive matches - improved to 23-4 overall, 13-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Gastright now has 1,602 career kills, which ranks No. 2 in NKU history. Jenny Jeremiah is NKUs all-time career leader with 1,613 kills. Gastright needs 12 kills against Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville on Saturday to become the Norses all-time leader in that category. NKU plays host to SIUE at 2 p.m. in Regents Hall. NKU is now 27-5 against USI in the all-time series, and the Norse have not lost to the Lady Eagles since the 1994 season. NKU will play host to the GLVC Tournament Nov. 8-10 in Regents Hall. The Norse will play at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the first round against the No. 8 seed (either Saint Josephs College or the University of Wisconsin-Parkside). NKU is ranked No. 15 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, and No. 4 in the Great Lakes Region poll. |
