NKU WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT GLVC TITLE

Norse defeat USI to earn fourth consecutive GLVC championship

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Julie Hathorn had seven kills, six blocks and eight digs Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team captured its fourth consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship with a 15-11, 15-13, 15-13 victory over the University of Southern Indiana at PAC Arena.

Bobbi Casey added 36 assists, four blocks and 11 digs as NKU improved to 26-6. The Norse also received 11 kills from Bethany Gastright, while Jessica Buroker had eight kills and 12 digs.

NKU is ranked No. 20 nationally in the Division II poll and will find out the pairings for the NCAA Division II Tournament Sunday night. The Norse are ranked No. 4 in the Great Lakes Region poll, and the top six teams will advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Northwood (Mich.) University is No. 1 in the latest Great Lakes Region poll, followed by No. 2 Grand Valley State University. Those two teams play in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference finals Saturday night.

Lewis University, which lost to NKU in the GLVC semifinals on Friday, is ranked No. 3 in the Great Lakes Region.
