NKU EXTENDS GLVC HOME WIN STREAK TO 47
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Sophomore outside hitter Bethany Gastright had 20 kills and a .588 hitting percentage Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Lewis University, 15-7, 15-6, 15-3, in Regents Hall.
Gastright collected the 20 kills on 34 attempts with no errors as NKU improved to 23-1 overall, 12-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse have now won 47 consecutive matches against GLVC opponents in Regents Hall dating back to Sept. 3, 1995, when Indiana-Purdue at Fort Wayne defeated NKU in five games.
The victory extended NKUs overall homecourt winning streak to 27 consecutive matches, which dates back to 1997. The last team to beat NKU in Regents Hall was the University of New Haven, which knocked off the Norse in four games on Nov. 9, 1997.
Senior outside hitter Jenny Jeremiah added 13 kills and 19 digs for NKU, which is ranked No. 4 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll and No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region poll. Junior setter Bobbi Casey recorded 45 assists and three service aces for the Norse, who will play host to Wisconsin-Parkside at noon on Saturday, and Saginaw Valley State at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
