TAYLOR, WELTER NAMED 1ST TEAM ALL-GLVC
Salisbury, Pugh also earn All-GLVC honors
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University volleyball players Sara Taylor and Cammi Welter have been named first team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference by the league coaches.
Taylor, a 5-foot-8 junior setter from Louisville, Ky., is currently No. 1 nationally in the NCAA Division II rankings with an average of 13.75 assists per game. Taylor also has 34 service aces going into Friday nights GLVC semifinals against Lewis University.
This is the third consecutive year that Taylor has been named All-GLVC. During both her freshman and sophomore years, Taylor was named second team All-GLVC.
Welter, a 5-11 junior right-side hitter, has 372 kills and a .327 hitting percentage. Welter, a graduate of McAuley High School in Cincinnati, leads NKU with 79 total blocks.
Two other NKU players - junior outside hitter Nicole Salisbury and sophomore middle hitter Maggie Pugh - were named second team All-GLVC. Salisbury is tied with Welter for team leadership with 372 kills, and she also has 297 digs. Pugh, a graduate of Mason (Ohio) High School, has 280 kills and a .349 hitting percentage this season.
Shannon Wells from the University of Southern Indiana was named GLVC Player of the Year, while Lewis Karen Lockyer was named GLVC Coach of the Year.
