LAMPING, GASTRIGHT SPARK NKU PAST BELLARMINE

 

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Senior defender Liz Lamping recorded four key service aces in the third game Tuesday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Bellarmine, 15-1, 15-10, 15-12 in Regents Hall.

Lamping (who had a total of five aces) and sophomore outside hitter Bethany Gastright (8 kills, .571 hitting percentage) helped NKU rally from an 8-1 deficit in the third game and win the match. Gastright had all eight of her kills (no errors, 14 attempts) during the third game.

Senior outside hitter Jenny Jeremiah led NKU with 15 kills and 19 digs, and junior middle hitter Jessica Buroker added 12 kills, 12 digs and a .500 hitting percentage. For the match, NKU hit .328, compared to Bellarmine’s .103.

NKU is now 13-1 overall, 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse are ranked No. 5 nationally (tied with Tampa) in the latest NCAA Division II poll.
