TUCHFARBER RECEIVES PARAGON AWARD

NKU senior receives GLVC’s most prestigious honor

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball player Michele Tuchfarber has earned the 2001 Richard F. Scharf Paragon Award, which is given annually to the top male and female student-athletes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

The Paragon Award is based upon academic excellence, athletic ability and achievement, character and leadership. The Paragon Award is the most prestigious honor given to a student-athlete in the GLVC.

Tuchfarber shared the award with Elizabeth Ramsey from the University of Indianapolis and Misi Clark from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. It marked the first time in history three student-athletes have shared the Richard F. Scharf Paragon Award.

Tuchfarber, a graduate of Mount Notre Dame High School in Cincinnati, finished her career as NKU’s all-time leader in three-point field goals with 159. She also scored 1,509 career points (No. 3 in NKU history) and led the Norse to a 105-20 record in her four years. NKU won the NCAA Division II national championship in 2000 and Tuchfarber was named to the Elite Eight All-Tournament Team that season.
