TRINKLE HELPS NKU SWEEP TWO FROM MIDWAY

Norse improve to 12-12 with two wins on Thursday

 

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Freshman outfielder Jessica Trinkle collected four hits and scored three runs Thursday as the Northern Kentucky University softball team swept a doubleheader from Midway (Ky.) College, 4-1 and 4-3, at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field.

Trinkle, a graduate of Colerain High School in Cincinnati, had three hits and scored a run during NKU’s 4-1 victory in the opener. She scored twice in the nightcap as NKU prevailed by a 4-3 score in five innings. Junior pitcher Kim Bina picked up the win in the first game and improved to 3-5, and junior pitcher Jamie Moore recorded the victory in the nightcap to run her record to 5-2.

NKU improved to 12-12 with the two wins, and the Norse will play at Bellarmine College at 1 p.m. on Saturday. NKU will also return home to host Kentucky Wesleyan College at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field.

The dedication of the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field will be held at 4 p.m. next Thursday (April 6) when NKU hosts the College of Mount St. Joseph.
