HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The dedication of the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field will be held Thursday (April 6) at Northern Kentucky University, beginning with a dedication ceremony at 2:30 p.m.

The Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field is a brand new facility that just opened this season on the NKU campus. It is one of the top softball fields in the nation, and the facility is the new home for NKU softball.

Among the speakers scheduled for the 2:30 p.m. dedication program are NKU president Dr. James Votruba, NKU athletic director Jane Meier and NKU softball head coach Kathy Bown. The dedication will take place at 2:30 p.m., and a doubleheader between NKU and the College of Mount St. Joseph will follow at 4 p.m.

NKU enters Thursday with a 14-13 overall record after posting a 14-6 victory against Kentucky Wesleyan College last Sunday. The Norse used a 15-hit attack to improve to 4-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

NKU junior third baseman Kerry McKee hit a pair of home runs against Bellarmine College during a 7-2, 11-inning win on Saturday and drove in five runs to lead the Norse attack. McKee now has 14 RBI this season. Sophomore first baseman Krista Eldridge leads NKU with 15 RBI, and she is batting .284.

Junior pitcher Jamie Moore owns a 6-3 record and a 2.68 earned run average. Moore also has two shutouts this season. Senior pitcher Suzi Parkinson is 5-3 with a 2.42 ERA, and she leads NKU with three shutouts. Junior pitcher Kim Bina leads NKU with a 2.17 ERA and 34 strikeouts.

NKU will face two of the top teams in the GLVC this weekend when the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis University visit the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field. NKU plays Wisconsin-Parkside at 1 p.m. on Saturday, and the Norse will face Lewis at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Lewis is currently 27-3 overall, and Wisconsin-Parkside owns a 21-8 record. Both of those teams are 8-2 in the GLVC.
