NKU SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER AT IPFW

Norse clinch berth in GLVC Tournament with victory in second game

 

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Junior third baseman Kerry McKee had two hits, including her fifth home run of the season, as the Northern Kentucky University softball team defeated Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne, 4-2, in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

McKee had two RBI for NKU, which improved to 18-17 overall, 6-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse also clinched a berth in the upcoming GLVC Tournament when Indianapolis lost twice at Saint Joseph’s College on Saturday.

Junior pitcher Jamie Moore picked up the victory for NKU and allowed just six hits in seven innings. Moore also had four strikeouts.

In the opener, IPFW defeated NKU, 3-1, as pitcher Missy Czaja limited the Norse to just six hits. IPFW scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to snap a 1-1 tie.
