HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Krystal Lewallen has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week for softball, the league announced Tuesday.
Lewallen, a sophomore from Crestwood, Ky., posted a 7-1 record with 75 strikeouts and a 0.12 earned run average last week during NKU’s spring trip in Florida. She gave up just one earned run in 54 2/3 innings pitched and narrowly missed a pair of perfect games for the Norse, who are off to a school-record 19-1 start.
A graduate of South Oldham High School, Lewallen owns a 10-1 record this season. A year ago, she posted a 16-9 record with a 0.82 ERA.
NKU will play host to Lewis University at noon this Saturday in its GLVC opener at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field. The Norse will also meet the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at noon Sunday in a GLVC doubleheader.
