Norse middle hitter named GLVC Player of the Week

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Maggie Pugh has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in volleyball.

Pugh, a graduate of Mason (Ohio) High School, recorded 40 kills, a .400 hitting percentage and 10 blocks over the weekend as the Norse swept a crucial GLVC road trip at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis University. Pugh started the weekend with 22 kills, a .486 hitting percentage and five blocks during a five-game win at Wisconsin-Parkside.

On Saturday, the sophomore middle hitter recorded a team-leading 18 kills and a .316 hitting percentage as NKU handed 24th-ranked Lewis its first home defeat of the season in four games. Pugh’s performance helped NKU tie Lewis for first place in the GLVC standings with a 7-2 record.

For the week, Pugh averaged 20.0 kills, a .400 hitting percentage and 5.0 blocks in two matches. She now has 201 kills and a .321 hitting percentage this season.
