NKU TENNIS PLAYERS NAMED ALL-GLVC
Benjelloun named GLVC co-Player of the Year
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University mens tennis players Amine Benjelloun and Oliver Marinkovic have been named All-Great Lakes Valley Conference by the league coaches.
Benjelloun owns a 10-5 overall record at No. 1 singles this season, and he is 11-4 in No. 1 doubles competition. Benjelloun, a senior from Kenitra, Morocco, also shared GLVC co-Player of the Year honors with University of Indianapolis standout Ross Johnson.
Marinkovic, a junior from Gothenburg, Sweden, enters the GLVC Tournament with a 15-1 overall record at No. 2 singles. Marinkovic is 10-5 at No. 2 doubles this season and has helped NKU (8-0 GLVC) earn the No. 1 seed in this weeks GLVC Championships at Indianapolis, Ind.
NKU is seeking its second straight GLVC Championships title. The Norse, who have won 21 consecutive matches against GLVC opponents, begin the tournament at 9 a.m. Friday with a first-round contest against eighth-seeded Quincy University.
NKU has not lost to a GLVC opponent since April 19, 2002, when the University of Missouri-St. Louis posted a 5-3 win over NKU at the GLVC Championships.
