THOMPSON EARNS GLVC WEEKLY AWARD

NKU freshman named GLVC co-Player of the Week

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Chris Thompson has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference co-Player of the Week in men’s soccer.

Thompson scored three goals - including a pair of game-winners - as the Norse swept the University of Southern Indiana and the University of Missouri-St. Louis last week. Thompson scored on a breakaway 15 minutes into the second half Friday to give NKU a 1-0 win over Southern Indiana.

On Sunday, he added two goals to lead NKU to a 3-1 victory against Missouri-St. Louis. Thompson’s three goals in two games helped NKU improve to 8-2-2 overall, 3-2-1 in the GLVC.

Thompson, a redshirt freshman and a graduate of Elder High School in Cincinnati, shared the weekly honor with Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville’s Pete Cacciatore. Thompson leads NKU with five goals this season.

NKU will play at Bellarmine University on Friday.
