UMSL GETS LATE GOAL TO DEFEAT NKU

Spencer’s goal at 86:28 gives Rivermen victory over NKU

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Kirt Spencer’s unassisted goal with less than four minutes remaining in the match Friday night gave the University of Missouri-St. Louis a 1-0 victory over Northern Kentucky University in men’s soccer. Spencer’s goal came at the 86:28 mark and was all the UMSL (3-4, 1-0 Great Lakes valley Conference) defense would need. Goalie Kevin McCarthy picked up the shutout and had five saves. NKU dropped to 0-6, and the Norse are 0-1 in the GLVC. NKU will play at Quincy University at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. UMSL 1, NKU 0 GOAL: UMSL-Spencer. SHUTOUT: McCarthy (5 saves).
