Norse (0-5) begin GLVC play this weekend |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University mens soccer team, now 0-5 after dropping a 3-2 decision to Wheeling Jesuit University last Friday, will begin Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend with road matches at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (6:30 p.m. on Friday) and Quincy University (1:30 p.m. on Sunday). Wheeling Jesuit held a 3-0 lead late in the second half on Friday, but NKU used goals by Jeff Anderson and Eric Borg to cut the deficit to 3-2 with less than four minutes remaining. Wheeling Jesuit held on to improve its record to 5-0. Sophomore Stephen Hahn leads NKU in scoring with two goals. Sophomore Mohamed Janah has a goal and an assist for the Norse. TOUGH SCHEDULE: NKU has scored seven goals in its last two matches (a 6-5 overtime loss to West Virginia Wesleyan, and a 3-2 defeat to Wheeling Jesuit) against two of the nations best teams. In this week's Division II poll, Wheeling Jesuit is ranked No. 11 nationally, and West Virginia Wesleyan is No. 12. A YEAR AGO AGAINST UMSL, QUINCY: Last season, NKU defeated Missouri-St. Louis, 2-1, at Wilder, Ky. NKU and Quincy played to a 1-1 tie at Wilder, Ky. Missouri-St. Louis is 2-4 entering the NKU match, and Quincy owns a 3-2 record. |
