ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Carlos Stremi and Serafin Vega both scored first-half goals Sunday afternoon as the Lewis University mens soccer team defeated Northern Kentucky University, 2-1. Juan Martin DeVoto added an assist as Lewis - the nations No. 1 team in the latest NCAA Division II poll - improved to 12-0-1 overall, 6-0-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. NKU dropped to 7-6 overall, 4-2 in the GLVC. Lewis held a 2-0 lead with 12 minutes remaining, but Kevin Crone cut the deficit to 2-1 with a goal on penalty kick. NKU, however, would not score again and Lewis remained unbeaten. The Norse, who entered the weekend in sole possession of first place in the GLVC, are now in fourth place in the GLVC standings. NKU also dropped a 4-1 decision at Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday. NKU will return home this Friday night for an 8 p.m. contest against GLVC rival Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky. |
