NKU WINS 5TH STRAIGHT MATCH

Norse defeat Southern Indiana, 3-2

WILDER, Ky. - Jeff Anderson’s goal with 14 minutes remaining in regulation broke a 2-2 tie Friday night and gave the Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer team a 3-2 win over the University of Southern Indiana at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

Mohamed Janah and Kyle Winkler also scored goals as NKU won its fifth consecutive match and improved to 5-7 overall, 4-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Southern Indiana dropped to 4-6-1 overall, 3-3-1 in the GLVC.

The Norse trailed 1-0 at halftime, but Janah tied the match at 1-1 with a goal assisted by Anderson early in the second half. Winkler later gave NKU a 2-1 lead by blasting in a shot off an assist from Kevin Morath, but USI’s Jared Anslinger tied the match at 2-2 with 23 minutes remaining with a goal.

NKU will play host to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder.
