Norse score twice in last two minutes to rally past SJC

WILDER, Ky. - Jeff Anderson’s goal with 54 seconds remaining in regulation Friday night gave the Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer team a 4-3 win over Saint Joseph’s College at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

NKU trailed Saint Joseph’s 3-2 with less than two minutes left, but Tony Becker’s goal tied the match at 3-3 at the 88:20 mark. Less than a minute later, Anderson scored a goal off an assist from Becker to give the Norse the win.

Becker scored two goals as NKU improved to 6-10 overall, 5-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. NKU also clinched a berth in the upcoming GLVC Tournament with the victory. Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne - which will play NKU at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Town & Country Sports Complex - defeated the University of Indianapolis on Friday and assured NKU of at least being the No. 7 seed in the GLVC Tournament.

The Norse could finish as high as fifth in the regular-season standings, depending on Sunday’s matches.
