Three Norse men’s soccer players earn All-GLVC accolades

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Three Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer players have earned All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors, the league office announced Friday.

NKU standout goalie Nate Madden was named first team All-GLVC for the first time in his career. The Norse’s Chris Thompson and Andy Bacon both earned second team All-GLVC accolades.

Madden, a graduate of Kettering Fairmont High School, posted 11 shutouts this season with a 0.53 goals against average. His play in the net helped NKU increase its win total from four last season to 12 this fall.

Thompson, a freshman forward and a graduate of Elder High School in Cincinnati, led NKU with seven goals this season. Four of his goals were game-winners this fall.

Bacon, a freshman defender and a graduate of Lakota East High School, played a major role in the Norse backfield this season. He also scored a goal and added two assists.

NKU posted a 12-6-2 record this season. A year ago, the Norse finished 4-9-3.
