Rangers score two goals in last five minutes to post win |

KENOSHA, Wis. - Raymond James scored a goal with less than five minutes remaining in regulation Wednesday afternoon as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside mens soccer team defeated Northern Kentucky University, 2-0, in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. James goal snapped a scoreless tie and gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead at the 85:55 mark. Bill Wiedel scored a goal with 37 seconds left off an assist from James to seal the victory for Wisconsin-Parkside (15-4). The Rangers, seeded fourth in the GLVC Tournament, are ranked No. 23 nationally in the Division II poll. Goalie Thom Peer recorded the shutout and had four saves for the Rangers. NKU, which entered the GLVC Tournament as the No. 5 seed, finished the season with a 7-12 record. UWP 2, NKU 0 GOALS: UWP-James, Wiedel. SHUTOUT: Peer (4 saves). RECORDS: UWP 15-4, NKU 7-12. |
