RENSSELAER, Ind. - Jeremy Robertson scored a pair of goals Friday night to lead the Northern Kentucky University mens soccer team to a 2-1 win over Saint Josephs College. Robertson tallied both goals in the second half - including a score at the 61:08 mark that snapped a 1-1 tie - as NKU improved to 4-7-3 overall, 2-3-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse are tied for sixth place in the GLVC standings, and the top seven teams will qualify for the GLVC Tournament in early November. Quincy University and Bellarmine University are tied with NKU for sixth place in the GLVC standings. The Norse played both of those teams to ties this season, while Bellarmine owns a 2-0 win over Quincy. Robertson gave NKU a 1-0 lead five minutes into the second half with an unassisted goal, but Saint Josephs countered one minute later when McKinley Jones found the back of the net to even the score at 1-1. NKU will play at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The Norse close out the regular season on Oct. 25 with a road match at Lewis University. NKU will likely need wins in both matches to earn a berth in the GLVC Tournament. |
