NKU PLAYS QUINCY TO 0-0 TIE

Madden records 10 saves for Norse

WILDER, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer team played Quincy University to a 0-0 tie in two overtimes Sunday at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

Norse goalie Nate Madden recorded 10 saves - including a pair of spectacular stops - for NKU, which is now 3-7-3 overall, 1-3-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse are in eighth place in the GLVC standings, and the top seven teams will qualify for the GLVC Tournament in early November.

Quincy (4-7-2 overall, 2-4-1 GLVC) held a 23-12 advantage in shot attempts, but the play of Madden kept the Hawks from scoring. NKU’s Nadeem Al-Alami attempted an 18-yard shot from the right side near the end of the second overtime that appeared on target, but Quincy goalie Brian Forrest made the save and the match ended in a scoreless tie.

NKU will hit the road next weekend for matches at Saint Joseph’s College (8:30 p.m. Friday) and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (3:30 p.m. Sunday).
