Norse mens soccer team adds prep standouts for 2004 |
|
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University mens soccer head coach John Basalyga has announced that the following individuals have signed national letters of intent to attend NKU and play for the Norse next fall. They are: Jason Larkin, a 5-foot-8 forward from Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati. Larkin scored 11 goals and added six assists as a senior for the Highlanders, and he was named All-Greater Miami Conference. As a junior, Larkin tallied five goals and had six assists. Tony Capurro, a 5-9 forward from Moeller High School in Cincinnati. Capurro was named the Crusaders most valuable player last fall and earned four letters in soccer at Moeller. He also earned All-Greater Catholic League honors and was named to the Southwest Ohio all-star team. Dan Impellizzeri, a 5-10 forward from Anderson High School in Cincinnati. Impellizzeri was named first team All-Fort Ancient Valley Conference three times, and he also earned All-City honors last fall. He led Anderson to a pair of FAVC championships in soccer. Andy Bacon, a 6-foot forward from Lakota East High School. Bacon scored a single-season record 17 goals for Lakota East and is the Thunderhawks all-time leader with 27 career goals. He scored three goals in a game twice during his career and was named GMC co-Player of the Year as a senior. Zach Tewell, a 5-10 forward/midfielder from Lexington Catholic High School. Tewell scored 18 goals and recorded seven assists as a senior while leading Lexington Catholic to the state finals. He was also named All-Region as a junior and senior. Those recruits will join an NKU squad that finished with a 4-9-3 overall record in 2003. The Norse also posted a 2-5-3 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. |
