LATE GOAL GIVES ROCKHURST 2-1 WIN
Norse fall to 0-2 as Rockhurst scores winning goal at 86:11 mark
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Mike Gilchrist scored a goal at the 86:11 mark Sunday afternoon to give Rockhurst (Mo.) University a 2-1 victory over the Northern Kentucky University mens soccer team at the Missouri-St. Louis Classic.
Gilchrists goal came off an assist from Bill Lally and snapped a 1-1 tie with just over three minutes remaining in the match. NKU (0-2) had tied the match at 1-1 at the 72:57 mark when Kevin Crone scored on a penalty kick, but Rockhurst (1-1) responded with Gilchrists score to win the match.
After a scoreless first half, Steve Logan gave Rockhurst a 1-0 lead 18 minutes into the second half with an unassisted goal. For the match, Rockhurst outshot the Norse by a 26-7 margin.
NKU will return to action this Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. with a match against the University of Findlay at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.
