WILDER, Ky. - Joaquin Palomeque and Kevin Crone both scored goals Sunday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer team defeated Rockhurst (Mo.) University, 2-1, at the Town & Country Sports Complex. Palomeque gave NKU a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the match with a header off an assist from Kyle Winkler. The NKU defense limited Rockhurst to just four shots during the first half, and the Norse led 1-0 at intermission. NKU built a 2-0 lead at the 51:53 mark when Crone scored on a penalty kick. Rockhurst’s Blake Bornkessel cut the NKU lead to 2-1 at the 74:07 mark with a goal, but the Norse held on to even their record at 1-1. Rockhurst dropped to 0-1-1. NKU will travel to Findlay, Ohio, next Saturday for a 3 p.m. match against the University of Findlay. |
