Bulldogs score two second-half goals to pull out victory |

WILDER, Ky. - Bryan Defoes goal at the 81:25 mark Saturday gave the Truman State University mens soccer team a 2-1 win over Northern Kentucky University at the Town & Country Sports Complex. Truman State entered Saturday ranked No. 21 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, but NKU took a 1-0 lead at the 31:34 mark when Jeff Anderson scored a goal off an assist from Kyle Winkler. The Norse limited Truman State to just three shots in the first half and led 1-0 at intermission. Truman State, however, tied the score eight minutes into the second half when Luke Bolar scored off an assist from Justin Shew. The match remained tied until Defoe took a pass from Matt Byers and found the net to give Truman State a 2-1 lead at the 81:25 mark. Truman State, which posted a 5-0 win over NKU last season, enjoyed a 13-1 advantage in shot attempts during the second half Saturday. The Bulldogs are 1-0, and NKU is 0-1. NKU will play host to Rockhurst (Mo.) University at 1 p.m. Sunday. |
