NKU’S MOORE NAMED 1ST TEAM ALL-AMERICA

Moore becomes NKU women’s soccer team’s first All-American

 

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer player Betsy Moore has been named to the first team NCAA Division II All-America Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Moore, a sophomore forward and a graduate of McAuley High School in Cincinnati, scored a school-record 21 goals this season and added 12 assists as NKU advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four. Moore, who is the first All-America selection in the three-year history of NKU women’s soccer, was also named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year this season.

Moore scored three goals in a match twice in 1999, and she scored at least two goals in a match six times. She also had a school-record four assists during a win against Indiana-Purdue at Fort Wayne.

NKU finished with a 22-3 record, and the Norse won NCAA Division II Tournament matches against both North Dakota State and Mercyhurst (Pa.). NKU lost to eventual national champion Franklin Pierce, 2-0, in the Final Four.
