Norse can wrap up trip to national finals on Wednesday

BELLINGHAM, Mass. - The Northern Kentucky University men’s golf team finished the second round of the NCAA Division II North Regional Tournament on Tuesday with a score of 308, and the Norse enter Wednesday’s final round tied for second place with a two-day total of 615.

Josh Jarvi enjoyed his second consecutive solid day at the par-71 New England Country Club by firing a 5-over-par 76. Jarvi is tied for fourth place in the individual competition with a two-day total of 151 (+9). NKU’s Brandon Brown fired a 4-over-par 75 Tuesday and is tied with Jarvi at 151.

Steve Landrum, the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year, fired a 75 on Tuesday and is now tied for 17th with a two-day total of 154.

Bryant (R.I.) College is in first place after two rounds with a score of 606, nine strokes ahead of NKU and University of Indianapolis (615).

The final round is scheduled for Wednesday. The top six teams will qualify for the NCAA Division II national finals, which will be held May 22-25 at Allendale, Mich.

In 1995 and ’96, NKU advanced to the NCAA II national finals. The Norse’s best finish came in 1995, when they tied for 11th place in the finals.
