NKU MEN’S BASKETBALL RANKED 6TH NATIONALLY

 

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball team is ranked No. 6 nationally in the Division II Bulletin preseason poll.

NKU, which finished 16-12 last season, is also the preseason favorite to win the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse return four starters and add four key redshirts to the roster in 1999-2000.

Metro State, which lost to Kentucky Wesleyan in the NCAA Division II national championship game last season, is picked No. 1 in the poll. Salem-Teikyo is No. 2, followed by Cal State Bakersfield, College of Saint Rose, Truman State and NKU. GLVC rivals Southern Indiana (No. 8) and Kentucky Wesleyan (No. 10) are also voted among the nation’s best.

NKU will open up its 1999-2000 regular season on Nov. 19 against Thomas More College in the first round of the John L. Griffin/Lions Club Classic in Regents Hall.
