STOWERS TO BE HONORED JULY 20

NKU standout to be recognized at March of Champions

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Former Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball player Brenden Stowers will be honored July 20 at the eighth annual March of Champions, which will recognize local athletes and coaches for their accomplishments on the court and in the community.

The March of Champions event - which includes food, beverages and entertainment - will take place at the Cincinnati Gardens, and proceeds will benefit the March of Dimes. The cost to attend is $45 for adults, and $25 for children 12 and under.

Stowers finished his career at NKU with 1,311 points, which ranks No. 13 in Norse history. He was also named second team All-American by Division II Bulletin last season after averaging 16.2 points and 4.35 assists per game.

In addition, Stowers earned first team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors as a senior. He was named most outstanding player at the 2003 GLVC Tournament after leading NKU to its first-ever championship at that event.

Stowers and his father, Jeff, are the first father-son combination to join the NKU 1,000-point club. Jeff Stowers finished his career with 1,410 points.

The theme of this year’s March of Champions event is The Sports Fan’s Dream, and those in attendance will have the opportunity to bid on several unique auction packages. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for this event.
