NKU POSTS 96-70 WIN OVER UM-ST. LOUIS

Norse now 23-5 after win Thursday night

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Craig Conley scored 21 points and collected a school-record 14 assists Thursday night as the Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball team defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 96-70, in Regents Hall.

Conley - who had shared the previous school record of 13 assists with Terrance Moorman - also made four three-point shots for NKU, which improved to 23-5 overall, 14-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse are ranked No. 15 nationally in the Division II poll.

NKU built a 58-36 halftime lead by shooting 74.1 percent from the field and making 11 of 15 three-point attempts. NKU also committed just one turnover before halftime.

Carl Mitchell added 19 points for NKU, and Craig Sanders scored 14 points. The Norse shot 64.2 percent from the field for the game.

The Norse will close out their 2000-01 home season at 3:15 p.m. Saturday against Quincy (Ill.) University. NKU will play its first GLVC Tournament game next Thursday (March 1) at Roberts Stadium in Evansville, Ind. The times and seeding for the GLVC Tournament will be announced this Sunday night (Feb. 25).
