NORSE POST 96-66 WIN AT INDY

NKU improves to 21-4 with important road win

INDIANAPOLIS - Craig Sanders and Brian Lawhon both scored 18 points Tuesday night as the Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball team defeated the University of Indianapolis, 96-66, at Nicoson Hall.

Lawhon made all six of his three-point attempts for NKU, which improved to 21-4 overall, 12-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse, ranked No. 15 nationally in the Division II poll, have now beaten Indianapolis five consecutive times and have won two straight years at Nicoson Hall.

NKU made 14 of 24 three-point attempts and shot 63.6 percent from the field. The Norse built a 51-28 halftime lead and coasted to the victory.

Sanders made four three-pointers for NKU, and Todd Clark added 16 points and nine rebounds. Brenden Stowers scored 12 points for the Norse, who won the rebounding battle by a 36-27 margin.

NKU will travel to Owensboro, Ky., Thursday night to meet No. 5 Kentucky Wesleyan College at 8:30 p.m. The Norse will conclude their three-game road trip this Saturday night in Louisville, Ky., with an 8 p.m. game against Bellarmine University in Knights Hall.
