NKU outside hitter named Division II National Player of the Week

AVCA/Sports Imports Division II National Player of the Week Bethany Gastright, Northern Kentucky University Jr., Outside Hitter, 5-11 (Lakeside Park, Ky. - Holy Cross High School)   COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Bethany Gastright, a 5-foot-11 junior outside hitter for No. 12 Northern Kentucky, earned the AVCA/Sports Imports Division II National Player of the Week for leading the Norse to a 3-0 record last week. Gastright recorded 30 kills, the third time reaching the 30-Kill Club this season, in a four-game victory over Indianapolis on the road. She tacked on six digs, four block solos and six total blocks against the Greyhounds, while attacking at a .397 percentage. Gastright contributed 27 kills, seven digs and two aces in a five-game win over Indiana-Purdue/Fort Wayne. She capped her week off with a .412 attack percentage with 17 kills versus Saint Joseph’s (Ind.). Gastright averaged 6.17 kills, 1.25 digs and 0.58 blocks in 12 games during the week.
