PFETZER SETS NKU RECORD FOR STRIKEOUTS

Pfetzer collects school-record 17 strikeouts against St. Xavier

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Sophomore left-hander Kyle Pfetzer struck out a school-record 17 batters Monday as the Northern Kentucky University baseball team defeated St. Xavier (Ill.) University, 4-0.

Pfetzer, a graduate of Highlands High School, picked up the shutout and broke the NKU single-game record of 15 strikeouts, set by Steve Lovins in 1977.

NKU also defeated New York University, 19-0, on Monday. The Norse, on their annual spring break trip, are now 11-5.
