MEIER EARNS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

NKU athletic director named WBCA Administrator of the Year

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University athletic director Jane Meier has been named the recipient of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Administrator of the Year award for excellence in athletic administration.

Meier, who has been at NKU since 1978, recorded 457 victories while coaching three sports and she is the only coach in Norse history to guide three women’s sports to postseason tournaments. In 1988, she accepted the position of athletic director at NKU and has built one of the nation’s top programs.

In the last five years, Meier has guided a program that has produced eight teams that advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. Five of those teams advanced to the Final Four, and the NKU women’s basketball team captured NKU’s first-ever national championship in 2000.

Three Norse teams have finished as national runner-up in the last five years, and NKU captured the Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Sports Trophy for the first time in school history last season.

Meier will be presented with the award on April 1 in St. Louis, Mo.
